James L. (Slim) White, 78, of McGregor, a retired electrician, died Friday evening in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be a 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Steve Packer offficiating.  Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. White was born on June 14, 1902, the son of Preston and  Annie Hudson White.  He attended China Spring schools and married Irene Ross on Jun 21, 1930.  He was an electrician for Universal Atlas Cement Co. and lived in Waco for 40 years before moving to McGregor six years ago.  He was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church of McGregor.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, James Kenneth White of Barstow, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Gussie) Holcomb and Mrs. Doc (Florence) Vee Summers, both of McGregor; and four grand-children.
