John R. Tyra, 76, of 1713 Clark died Wednesday morning in a local hospital.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. today in Connally Chapel with John Fullerton officiating.  Burial was in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Tyra was born Jan. 3, 1895, at Aquilla.  He had lived in Waco 10 years and was a member of the West Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Tyra was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Vernon Tyra of Aquilla; one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Harris of 1701  Wilson; two brothers, Bill Tyra and Russell Tyra, both of Aquilla; two sisters, Mrs. Beadie Merritt of 3014 Lasker and Mrs. Rose Haridson of Whitney; and five grandchildren.
