Ervin Gene Thomas, 61, of Marlin, formerly of China Spring, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Shreveport, LA.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Austin officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at the funeral home. The family will be at 1422 Old Ranch Road in China Spring.

Mr. Thomas was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Martinez, California. He served in the US Army and was a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Butler Thomas; and brother, J.C. Thomas, Larry and Gerald Gibson.

Survivors included his daughters, Sherry Brown and Karen Goodwin, both of China Spring; son, Ricky Thomas of Lafayette, LA; sisters, Wanda Burns of Conn., Helen O’Connor of Waskom, Texas and Kim A. Mordoff of Florida; grandchildren, Alan and Misty Brown and Josua and Talena Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews.
