Bernard L. (Ben) Ruff, 70, of Waco, died Saturday at his residence.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Paul G. Smith and Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Ruff was born in Collinsville, Ill., March 14, 1926. He came to Texas at an early age and was educated in the Houston schools and graduated from University of Houston August 30, 1949. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Ruff married Dorothy Jane Grayson November 11, 1949 in Houston. She preceded him in death July 27, 1993,  after 42 and a half years of marriage. He married Jimia Walters Wallace in January 1995. She preceded him in death October 7, 1996. He was a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his niece, Shirley Grube and husband Bill; two great nieces, Laura Ann Grube of Waco and Betty Jane Kiowski and husband Mark of Plano; two sisters in law, Margaret Pierce of Waco and Betty Brooks and husband, Wallace also of Waco.
