Gene was born February 23, 1941 at home, near Crawford, Texas to Otto & Hilda Reinhardt. He graduated from Crawford High School in 1959. After graduation he attended Barber College. He was a Barber at Southgate Barber Shop and University Barber Shop, for fifty-four years. The barber shop was his life’s passion. He loved his customers.
He was baptized March 23, 1941, and confirmed April 6, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Coryell City, TX. He was an avid Cowboys football fan and loved to support Baylor sports, where he and his wife Bobbie are season ticket holders. He and Bobbie enjoyed a life of many travels, and he cherished his friendship with neighbor, George W. Bush. Gene was most delighted when he and Bobbie were invited to attend the presidential Inauguration in 2005. Gene was especially proud of his three children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He was very involved with their sports and was a coach for his son and daughters’ little league teams for Southern Little League. He loved to fish, camp and hunt. He enjoyed many hunting trips with his son and his brothers-in-law.
He was a wonderful father and pepaw and he was a hero to his children. He was always available to his extended family and he was the one everyone went to for everything. He was his mother’s baby boy and she loved him dearly. He never met a stranger. Gene was loved by all.
