Mrs. Jake (Louise) Pierce of China Spring, died Monday in a local nursing home. She was 72.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at China Spring Cemetery, the Rev. Leon Hattaway officiating.

Mrs. Pierce was born May 11, 1919, in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1938. She married J.W. (Jake) Pierce in November 1938 in China Spring, and the couple lived from 1958 to 1972 in Rockport, where they owned and operated a motel.

She was credit manager for Lake Air National Bank for five years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of First Baptist Church of China Spring.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Mrs. Mark (Judith) Reneau of Waco; sister, Velma Ann Hattaway of Grand Junction, CO; and two grandchildren.
