Mrs. Bill (Carolyn) McClain Newman of China Spring died Sunday at her residence. She was 46.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at China Spring United Methodist church, the Rev. Terry Nelson, the Rev. Mark Crawford and the Rev. Matt Hall officiating. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery.
Mrs. Newman was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Waco. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1966. She also attended Navarro Junior College, North Texas State University in Denton, Baylor University and graduated from McLennan Community College with an associate degree in accounting and finance. She married Bill Newman on Feb. 14, 1970, in Hubbard and moved to China Spring.
Mrs. Newman was a former eight-year McLennan County employee and currently worked for Naman and Associates and the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. She also worked for the China Spring Community Water Corp.
Mrs. Newman was a member of China Spring United Methodist church, where she was the church organist since 1971, chairwoman of the Harvest Festival, and a member of the finance committee, Pastor-Parish and Administrative Council. She also was the high school Sunday School teacher for 12 years. She was a member and officer of the United Methodist Women’s League.
