Ruby J. Murphy of Waco died Friday in a San Antonio hospital after a lengthly illness.  She was 76.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Donald Stone officiating.  Burial will follow in China Spring cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy was born Jan. 28, 1915 in China Spring, where she attended school.  She is a graduate of Waco High School and attended 4-C Business college.  She married John V. Murphy in 1933, in Waco; he died Jan. 7, 1986.  Mrs. Murphy was a member of Walter Baldwin Chapter 929 Order of the Eastern Star and Herring Avenue United Methodist church.

Survivors include two daughters; Marjorie Johnson of San Antonio and Mrs. Terry (Carolyn) Wennstrom of Torrence, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. J. M. (Claris) Allen of Waco; a brother, Alton B. Jay of Waco; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
