Mrs. W. E. McLennan, pioneer resident of McLennan County and a member of the family for which this county was named, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Haley, in San Antonio, at 3:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, according to word received in Waco Tuesday evening.  Mrs. McLennan was 84 years old.

Mrs. McLennan was born in Alabama and had lived in this county for over 65 years, most of the time being spent on the W. E. McLennan place near China Spring.  The old McLennan place was on South Bosque.  She removed to Waco in 1924, after the death of her husband; and had lived here about eight years, going to San Antonio about three months ago to spend the winter with her daughter.

Surviving Mrs. McLennan are 10 children: Mrs. C. E. Gordon, Mrs. R. L Kindel, Mrs. A. H. Miller, Herbert McLennan and Niel McLennan, all of Waco; Will McLennan of China Spring; Edwin McLennan of Tatum, N.M.; L. D. McLennan of Thornton; Mrs. W. A. Riley of San Antonio, and Mrs. Ira Armstrong of Lubbock.

The body will arrive in Waco Wednesday and funeral services will be held probably Wednesday or Thursday, arrangements have not been completed.  Interment will be at China Spring.

A sister, Mrs. Mary Hawley of Brownwood, and 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday from the China Spring Methodist Church, Rev. J. K. O’Herron, pastor of Central Christian church of Waco, officiating.  Interment will be in China Spring cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Enoch Caldwell, Smith Dosher, Hugh Eichelberger, Herman Eichelberger, Vernon Smith and Dee Conger.
