Carl C. Donovan of McGregor, owner of the Community Grocery Store in West, died Monday in a Waco hospital. He was 63.

Services will be 2 p.m. today (January 11, 1995) at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, the Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Donovan was born October 19, 1931 in North Platte, Nebraska. He married Patricia Ruth Golding on May 17, 1968 in Waco.

Mr. Donovan owned and operated the Community Grocery Store in West since 1984. Previously he had owned several conveniences stores in the Temple and Waco areas. He had also worked for Fleetwood Mobile Homes in Waco and Ohio as an assistant production manager.

He received a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 1959. He was a lifetime member of the Sheriff’s Association and Western Heights Baptist Church. He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cecelia Gulick of Austin and Kelly Elizabeth Donovan of Fort Pierce, Florida; a sister, Marlene Mason of Montgomery, Alabama.
