Joseph A. Costello Jr. of China Spring, formerly of San Antonio, died Tuesday in a local hospital.  He was 74.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at China Spring Cemetery, the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating.

Mr. Costello was born Aug 23, 1920, in San Francisco.  He worked for the civil service at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio for 34 years before retiring.  He moved to  Waco in February.

Surviviors include his wife, Peggy Costello of China Spring; a daughter, Linda Cook of China Spring; a son, Jeff Costello of Seguin; two sisters, Dolores Poore and Mary Holder, both of San Antonio; a brother, Robert Costello of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
