Newspaper accounts says he was born before the United States was  formed. He was a blacksmith by trade.  He was  He fought in the civil war, Company H 19th Texas Infantry, Captian Harvey A Wallace Company Water House Jr Regiment Volunteers.  Some say he was a Texas Ranger. Lived to the ripe old age of 122 years, 6 months and 2 days.  Fathered 16 children
