Virginia Ruth (Ginger) Burt went home to her Heavenly Father Friday, Feb. 8, 2002. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd, with brother Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in China Spring Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ginger was born July 26, 1920 in Nacogdoches to John Edward and Myrtle Mae Reid Grimes. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School. She married Billie Boyd Burt on Feb. 22, 1941. They lived most of their lives in China Spring where they owned and operated a dairy for many years. Although she had six children, Ginger was a “second Mom” to many family members and friends, In her younger years, Ginger was a Sunday School teacher at China Spring Baptist Church. She instilled in her children a great faith in God. Ginger was a loving, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. All who knew her were truly blessed and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Ginger was preceded in death by her mother and father, a sister, Annie Aline Grimes and a grandson, Michael Shane Burt.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Billie; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Vernon Kroll of China Spring, Peggy and Jimmie Kerr of China Spring and Ann and Marshall Owen of Woodway; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill (Jack) and Sandra Burt of Levelland, Larry and Glenda Burt of Longview and Greg and Kathy Burt of Valley Mills; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Lillie Mae Hayman of Huntsville and a brother, Cecil Howard Grimes of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lance Burt, Kyle Burt, Kade Burt, Wendell Burt, Todd Kroll, Duane Kerr, Brian Kerr and Jerry Pierce; nephew, Joe Burt and family friend Alex Dominguez.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Cameron Owen and nephew John Grimes.
