Ms. Verdi McLennan, 83, descendant of the founder of McLennan County, of San Antonio died Thursday afternoon in a San Antonio hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Compton-Waltrip Chapel, with Rev. Luke Bolin officiating.  Burial wll be in China Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. McLennan was born in China Spring and had lived in San Antonio for 30 years.  She was a member of the Christian church and was active in civic music organizations.

She was the daughter of the late W. E. McLennan and Charlsie McLennan.  W. E. McLennan was the grandson of Neil McLennan, for whom McLennan County was named.

Mrs. McLennan is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. E. Gordon of San  Antonio.
