Funeral services for W. W. Smith, 85, of 1010 Colcord Avenue will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Wilkirson and Hartch Chapel, Rev. Hubert Yount and Dr. A. J. Holt will Officiate with burial in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday in a local hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born at China Spring.  He was educated there and at Hill’s Business College in Waco.

He worked for Nash-Robinson for a short time and operated a farm at China Spring. In 1910 he went to work at Waco Drug Company, which later became Southwestern Drug Company.  Mt. Smith worked there 45 years, retiring in 1954.

Mr. Smith married Miss Verna Presnal June 6, 1907.  The couple would have celebrated their 67 wedding anniversary in June 1967.

Mr. Smith was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was active in the Men’s Bible Class.

He was one of the founding members of Waco T? Club.

Survivors are his wife of 1010 Colcord Avenue; three daughters, Mrs. Alene Brooks of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Nell Diaz of Fort Worth and Mrs. James T. (Vernal) Burnet of Houston; one son, W. T. Smith of 4104 Grim Avenue; one sister, Mrs. M. T. Betts of the Regis Retirement Residence.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
