Carl Melvin Woodruff, 76, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco. Visitation with the family will precede the service from 2 to 4 p.m.
Carl was born to the late Clifford and Tina Woodruff. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He and his wife, Jan, were married on Dec. 5, 1955, in Michigan. They operated Jan’s Day Care on 2617 Bosque Blvd. for 20 years, and were known and loved as Grandma and Grandpa. Carl was also a roofer who was nicknamed Tarbaby. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Woodruff; his brother, Albert Woodruff; and a sister, Rose Mary Clyde.
He is survived by his wife, Jantha Woodruff; daughters, Tina Westbrook and husband, Dan, and Shelly Cockrell and husband, Danny; sons, Melvin Woodruff and wife, Linda, Randy Woodruff, Brian Woodruff, and Scott Woodruff and wife, Kenya; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Spahn and Ellen Schultz; and brothers, Ron and Don Woodruff.
