Ralph Sommerfeld, 71, of China Spring, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his residence, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ivan Ker officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco.
Ralph Julius was born in Clifton, Texas, to the late Gus and Emma (Knuppel) Sommerfeld. He married Irene Riley on April 16, 1960, in Clifton. He owned and operated Sommerfeld’s Garage in China Spring from 1972 until his retirement in 2003.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Irene Sommerfeld, of China Spring; daughters, Shirley Taylor and husband, Dennis, Sherri Sommerfeld, all of China Spring, and Sheila Hanzlicek and husband, Harry, of Valley Mills; son, Kenneth Sommerfeld and wife, Christy, of China Spring; grandchildren, Kevin Hanzlicek, Cole Craig, Casey Craig, Brandy (Craig) Hamilton and husband, Blake, Bradie Craig, Brittany Hanzlicek, Misha Sommerfeld, six week old new baby, Emma Grace Sommerfeld, Hunter Ward, Michelle Hanzlicek, Heather Hanzlicek, Brad Taylor and Dusty Taylor; sisters, Margaret Klaehn and husband, Raymond, Regana Green and Emmie Lange; and brothers, Emmitt Naumann, and Melvin Naumann.
