James W. (Smitty) Smith, 67, of Waco died Wednesday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Paul Taft and Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by George N. Denton Lodge 24.

Mr. Smith was born March 10, 1922, in Brownsboro. He grew up in Kerens and graduated from Kerens High School and Baylor University and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Annie Mae Richie on July 4, 1944, and moved to Waco in 1945. Mr. Smith was a sales manager for Eli Witt Cigar Co. in Waco for 30 years; he also was a sales manger for Ponca Wholesale Co. in Waco for six years. He retired in 1985. He was a member of George N. Denton Masonic Lodge 24. He also was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Karem Shrine Temple, American Legion Post 121 and St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife; and a son, James William Smith, Jr.
