JoAnn B. McClain, 77, of Waco, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at a local retirement center.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, at China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco.

JoAnn was born in Canadian, Oklahoma, to the late Ed and Maud Mae (Sutton) Bowman. In 1953, she graduated from high school in Canadian, Oklahoma. JoAnn worked at the Melody Home in Ft. Worth for 12 years and, before her retirement, was a switchboard operator for Time Warner in Waco for 39 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. JoAnn loved to cook and play with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports and never wanted to miss one of their games. JoAnn loved cows and collected different kinds of cow memorabilia.

She was preceded in death by three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include son, Billy Wayne McClain, of Houston; daughter, Tina Johnson and husband, Billy, of China Spring; grandchildren, Justin Johnson and Cody Johnson, Brandy Burt and husband, Jamie, Brent McClain and Bobby McClain; great-grandchildren, Kalee Burt and Baylee Burt; brother, Bob
Bowman and wife, Evelyn, of Canadian, OK; sisters, Betty Allen, of Ardmore, OK, Eddie Cadenhead, of Ft. Worth, and Margie Rutledge and husband, Bob, of Tulsa, OK; and 27 nieces and nephews.
