Doris Ann Manning, 80, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011. She had been under Hospice care at Scott & White in Temple for several days due to a terminal illness. A service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at the chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr., in Georgetown, with Chaplain Dean Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the China Spring Cemetery near Waco.

Doris was born in Bosqueville, Texas, near Waco, to the late Warner and Anice Jenkins. She attended public school in Waco where she and her family lived during most of her youth. Doris Ann married D. Wilson Manning on June 30, 1950. She graduated from Baylor with degrees in Education, including a BS, MS, and EdD. She served as a teacher during her professional life, including many years as a first grade teacher, and after her advanced degrees, in the Language Arts Department at McLennan Community College until her retirement in 1993. During her retirement years, Doris developed her skills as a water colorist, and became a member of arts groups at Salado, Texas, and Sun City in Georgetown, where she previously lived. For the last several years, she has been an active member of the Assistance League of Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Hallie.

Survivors include her husband, D. Wilson Manning; son, Craig Manning, who with his wife and three children, live in the Houston area; sister, Juanita Carswell, of Waco; several nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
