David Jernigan, 73, of China Spring, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at a local nursing center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Louis David Jernigan was born in Temple, Texas, to the late Willie and Effie Mae (Sissom) Jernigan. He graduated from Temple High School in 1958. David married Lynda Sue Goode on June 6, 1958 in Temple. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after 30 years of service, in 1988. David was a member of First Baptist Church in China Spring. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. David loved talking and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.

David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Sue (Goode) Jernigan; son, Richard David Jernigan and wife, Kimberly, of Waco; daughter, Debra Jo Blackmon and husband, Bill, of China Spring; seven grandchildren; five
great- grandchildren; a brother; a sister; as well as other relatives and many friends.
