Evan Rogers Holt was born on April 29, 2005, to Jan and Ryan Holt at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Evan lived in China Spring but like his older brother, Ryland, attended school in Whitney. In the top 10% of his class and a member of the National Honor Society, Evan excelled academically. As a Senior at Whitney High School, Evan had received early admission to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches to start in the Fall. Evan decided his career goals included being an airline pilot and had been accepted to the Aviation Science Program at SFA.
Evan worked after school and on the weekends at Marco’s Pizza in China Spring and had begun saving for college and retirement at the same time. He was a member of and attended China Spring United Methodist Church and served on Sundays in the AVL booth during services.
Evan’s hobbies over the years included music, theater, Legos, knife making, axe throwing, voracious reading and playing Dungeons and Dragons online with players from around the world.
Evan deeply loved his family, close friends and numerous pets.
He is survived by his parents, Ryan and Jan Holt; brother, Ryland Holt; grandparents, Bettye and Harold Swantzy, Rod and Penny Zent, Rogers and Misty Holt, and Jim and Laura Hyden; great aunts and uncle, Billie Hyden, Jeralyn Selman, and Jim and Jan Venable; aunts and uncles, Rebekah Hyden, Joni and Kevin Author, Mindy and Thomas Stiles, Trey Holt, Nick and Michelle Swantzy; and numerous other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evan Holt Memorial Scholarship Fund by giving online through the funeral home’s obituary page.
